Wise Drive
In 2000, P.C. Dave Nixon, Durham Constabulary's Road Casualty Reduction Officer developed Wise Drive and together with Durham Agency Against Crime initiated this multi-agency initiative aimed at helping young people become safer drivers. It was designed as an action packed education workshop programme targeting young people within reach of their first provisional driving licence.

Shrievalty Awards
On 10th March 2004, the eighth annual Shrievalty Awards were held in the grand setting of Durham Castle. 41 young people received certificates of merit from The High Sheriff of County Durham, Mr Peter Cook.

Girls Football
Durham Constabulary, together with Durham FA hosted its fourth annual Girls’ Football tournament in July 2004. In its first year 60 girls took part in the event which is held at Aykley Heads. This year over 400 girls between the ages of 8 and 16 took part, with teams coming from all over the north east.

Insight
It is seven years since the Agency developed this highly successful initiative to provide a substance abuse education package for parents and carers of young people. During the last year 15 Insight events were held throughout the county.
