Rural Rangers

Launched in June 2000 by Wear and Tees Community Safety Department, we have continued to support Rural Rangers.

Rural Rangers is a unique scheme allowing young people from rural areas, who are often isolated and have to be independent and resourceful, to develop their communication skills and confidence and gain knowledge about how to remain safe, fit and healthy within their own environment. It not only arms them with knowledge of how to tackle incidents that they might be confronted with during their everyday lives, but also raises their status as young members of the community.

The Rural Rangers event includes:- How to make a 999 call Rural fire safety Care of wildlife and domestic animals Road safety Safety at rivers and reservoirs Healthy eating/disability awareness.

The Agency is very pleased to be associated with the scheme, and has contributed substantially to the project by assisting in the supply of T-Shirts for all the participants.
