Helping young people learn
key skills, create safer
communities and use leisure
time constructively.
Durham Agency Against Crime is a member of
COSIP (Co-ordination of Social Inclusion
Programmes)

agencies in County Durham which is working
together to ensure that young people under

Social Inclusion Programmes. COSIP
programmes focus on educating young
people through sport, outdoor and community
activities, drams, media and the arts to be
positive members of their community.
DAAC offer such schemes as Get Hooked on
Fishing, Get Gripped on Climbing and 'Give
Young People A Look At Life'.
The work of COSIP has been commended by
a multi agency team of HM Inspectorate.
COSIP had significant success in engaging
over 6,500 young people in 2003.
In April 2005 the COSIP partnership will be
hosting a national conference in Durham.
We are an integral part of COSIP and, in
partnership with other colleagues, have been
instrumental in finding funding for many
activities and projects for young people.
We are extremely proud of our COSIP
involvement and the young people who have
benefited.
The three key aims of COSIP are:
- To develop key skills including
literacy, numeracy, ICT,
problem solving, working with
others and managing own
learning.
- Enable young people to use
their leisure time constructively
- Work with young people to
create safer communities.
