Caravans, plant and motorcycles are
high value items which unfortunately
attract the attention of thieves.
DAAC worked with the Road Policing Unit of the
Durham Constabulary to put in place a series of
security checks for caravans, motor cycles and
plant at key dates and locations in County
Durham. By publicising the programme, theft
prevention was the key aim of the scheme.
With assistance from HPI CRIS Ltd, we obtained
the use of high tech portable scanners to identify
electronically the identity of any vehicles stopped
and checked during the programme.
During the period of the scheme, 13 caravans
and 12 trailers were seized as suspected
stolen goods.
