Following Weight Watchers Online has been a pleasure. I can't believe it's been so easy and straightforward.
The mum of two and police constable had never had weight issues prior to her pregancies. 'Dieting' was a very new experience, but one she quickly got to grips with. After the birth of my first child, I never returned to my pre-pregnancy weight. I then added a couple of stone with my second pregnancy. I was always slim as a child and was a size 10 when I got married. I'd never been on a diet before and found myself plodding along as a size 14.
When I decided to join Weight Watchers Online, I was excited at the prospect of following the plan online. I have both a 3 year old and a 5 month old - and my husband works shifts - so I couldn't commit to a meeting.
I was thrilled the online option was available. Six weeks after the birth of my second baby I signed up.
I'm not particularly computer literate so the first week was a little tricky, but by the end of it I was up and running.
I followed the POINTS® Plan. The daily POINTS allowance suited me as I knew I had a limit, but I could still eat anything I liked. I've been educated about food along the way. I've a better understanding of hidden fats and what my body needs.
For breakfast I tend to have porridge and honey with skimmed milk and a sandwich for lunch. I've adapted our family meals - a typical meal is chicken and pasta with roasted veg. I serve myself half a plate of veg and give my husband extra pasta. I like lots of flavour, so use a lot of salsa sauces. One pudding I couldn't live without is a syrup sponge and custard. I make sure I have it every week, usually after the Sunday roast!
Tools for the Job
Whatever I ate, I simply recorded it in the POINTS Tracker. It works everything out, so I always knew how many POINTS I had left for the day. And once a week I entered my weight in the Weight Tracker tool. I looked forward to seeing the graph going down!
Road to Success
My husband took photos of me every two weeks. I created a photo album on my computer so I could look at the changes to my body.
It's like something has changed within me – it probably goes deeper than simply eating healthier, but I now value myself far more than I ever did. I don't want to polish off a bottle of wine in the evenings any more. I have two glasses a week these days!
It took me five months to reach my goal. I printed my Progress Chart as I wanted to have a keepsake of what I'd achieved. I've put my before and after photos on the inside of my wardrobe as a constant reminder.
Since losing weight I've run three 10K runs and a half marathon - and I have lost a little more weight. I'm studying for my Sergeant's exam after nine years as a constable. My confidence is high, my health is good and my energy levels have improved. Life has changed for the better!
Following Weight Watchers Online has been a pleasure. I can't believe it's been so easy and straightforward. I feel quite emotional - I made it!
Caroline's Top Tips:
Take up some form of exercise, whether it be running or walking the dog. Talk to someone who is in the same boat - either a friend or use the message boards. That way you don't have to sound 'obsessed' about your weight to non-dieting friends and family.
