Transport The Spanish government has invested vast sums of money in developing and improving both the road network and public transport. Buses and trains generally run on time and are an economic and convenient method of getting about. Remember, cars are cheaper to buy in Spain. For those who wish to drive to Spain, there are ferry ports in the North, only one days drive away, alternatively, it is possible to drive from French ferry ports by motorways to the Costa Blanca. Alicante and Murcia are two and a half hours by air to the UK.
There are many organisations including Pickfords who can provide this service. We are happy to assist with advice to suit your requirements. We would however advise you that furniture and household goods in Spain are beautifully designed and made and are much cheaper, therefore we would recommend that you take with you only items of real sentimental value.   You are permitted to drive in Spain with your UK licence, although as a Spanish resident you will have to apply for a Spanish driving licence. Spanish law obliges you to carry your driving licence with you when driving, as well as all of your documents such as vehicle registration, insurance and tax certificates.
