Cost of Living The cost of living in the Torrevieja region is considerably lower than in the UK. Food is much cheaper in the excellent supermarkets and shops. Every Friday Torrevieja boasts one of the largest street markets in Spain where you can pick up a bargain or buy fruit and vegetables fresh from the farm. The indoor market, which is situated in the centre of the town, is open daily for fish, fruit, vegetables and fresh meat. No matter what day of the week, you will be able to find a market in one of the Spanish towns. Close to the port, evenings come alive with the bustling atmosphere created by the craft market traders, where you can buy hand made jewellery, leather goods and carved wood from Africa, all at a fraction of the price you pay in the UK. Eating out is also much cheaper and there is an abundance of excellent restaurants in and around the Torrevieja region, cigarettes and petrol are also a fraction of the price you would pay back home. You may expect the annual average running costs of your home to be much less expensive.
